About ezSidework

Every business has a story to tell.

Your website is the place to tell it and I'm here to help you tell it. I built ezSidework for restaurants and small boutique retailers to manage their online presence - their websites, socials, and email marketing. With ezSidework your story comes across clearly, and your hours, menus, specials, and products stay correct.

Why I'm doing this

Keith, founder of ezSidework

My name is Keith. I'm a software engineer, I live in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and I've been building applications and systems for 30 years, for huge companies like Cisco and for the smallest of small businesses.

I run my own consulting firm called Nuthatch LLC with my wife. The core focus for me is helping small businesses in my local community succeed by leveraging the technology Fortune 500 companies wish they had.

I started ezSidework thinking about restaurants because I see a need. Every person I talk to who runs a restaurant says the margins keep getting thinner while fewer people can afford to eat out. That means restaurants are working harder to stay afloat and resources are stretched thin.

It became clear pretty quickly that small boutique retailers could use my help too. So I enhanced ezSidework to work with both restaurants and retailers, with fully customized tooling for each: menus, specials, taps, and events for restaurants, and products, inventory, and online orders for retailers.

Time is the most precious resource. There are only so many minutes in a day. Minutes that you and your staff should spend making your business the best it can be, not stressing about whether the website is stale.

Let me carry that mental burden and give you back some of your time.

What is your website for?

I look at a website and ask, "What story is this website trying to tell?" For restaurants and retailers, the job is simple: earn a stranger's trust so they can't wait to walk through your door.

Done well, your website makes a great first impression. That first screen might be the only shot you get to impress a new customer. Show off your food, your taps, your best products, whatever it is that makes your place special. A cluttered website delivers a muddled message that confuses people and doesn't build trust.

At a bare minimum, your website gives clear, accurate information. Hours, menus, specials and events that are correct - always. A potential customer sees your specials from 3 months ago and they're going to wonder if you can't keep your website up-to-date, what other corners are you cutting.

If your online shop is out of date and the checkout has been broken for a month, people will wonder if you're a real business.

Done well, your website builds trust. Trust is the hardest thing to earn and the easiest thing to lose. When your website is clear, concise, and always accurate, people will feel good about coming to your business.

Get the first two right and the third takes care of itself.
